The Marathon Pirate Festival is currently seeking sponsors for this event. 

What is our fascination and love for pirates?  Maybe it was their defiance of authority in the 16^th and 17^th Centuries. Maybe it was the fact that their separation and defiance of the crowns of England, France and Spain is what sewed the seeds of democracy in the New World and what eventually became America.

For whatever reason, we seem to be drawn to pirates, especially our children.  And so, on Father’s Day weekend, June 18^th and 19^th

Lighthouse Landing Campground will be hosting the First Annual Marathon Pirate Festival. This will be the largest single event in central Upstate New York this summer.

Children of all ages will be able to bring their fathers out to take part in a magical adventure called “The Marathon Pirate Festival”. This event promises to be the largest pirate festival in Upstate New York this summer.  The 4^th Disney  movie, Pirates of the Caribbean^TM will still be running in theatres and many people will have pirate fever.

Many exciting events are planned during both days.  Several professional pirate groups will be attending from all over the N.E.  There will be a REAL Treasure Chest Hunt for real money.  The pirate groups will be performing skits and black powder shoot-outs.   Live period music by the famous Brigands of Long Island, NY.   There will be vendors from all over the region with period clothing and pirate style goods.  Many other children’s activities are planned as well.

Non-perishable food will be collected at the gate for the Courtland Food Bank, making this a charitable event as well.  This will be an excellent opportunity to advertise your company / organization.
